What is the Astral Orrery?

The Astral Orrery is the floating finale region above Tenebrous Isle. You reach it after restoring enough Spark Generators and progressing Coltrane Peak story flags — it is not gated by a single dungeon item from the first four towers.

Sub-areas community walkthroughs label include Stellarium (home to the Mutant Lab), gravity puzzle rooms, the Cog Chamber, Hall of Scholars, Sealed Archive, and the Starry Spark Generator boss arena.

How to enter — region mirrors

Six mirrors across Tenebrous Isle warp Mina to the first area of the Astral Orrery. Inside the Orrery, the matching exit mirror returns you to Ossex Castle. MeowDB lists the mirror locations as:

  • Radiant Manor (Coltrane Peak)
  • Queensbury Crypt
  • Bone Beach
  • Coltrane Peak

  • Septemburg

Stellarium & Mutant Lab — glass platform routes

Stellarium is the sub-area that hosts the Mutant Lab — the glass-platform dungeon players label “astral orrery mutant lab” in search. Enemies tethered by laser lines, moving glass tiles, and burrow exits that launch Mina onto overhead panes are the core mechanics.

After clearing purple or green Stellarium sides, descend to Tubert the merchant in the orange sealed container — he sells Vial Salvo (fires missiles when Mina drinks a Plasma Vial) for 2000 Bones if you skipped Panino's stock in Ossex.

  • Kill line-linked mutants first — the beams hurt on contact.
  • Use Underlab entrances in the lab if you need a heal mid-room; resting respawns surface enemies.
  • When you burrow under glass, exiting often shoots you upward onto the pane above — use that to reach elevated skulls and bones.
  • Break gourds when you see them; they frequently open shortcuts.
  • Timed glass platforms in side rooms hide Bonestone chests — burrow under moving panes when the path aligns.

Sealed Archive — late exploration wing

The Sealed Archive is a dedicated late-game wing inside the Astral Orrery — heavily searched alongside Mutant Lab but easy to miss if you warp out after the first mirror trip.

Community walkthroughs place it between Cog Chamber puzzle rooms and the Hall of Scholars. Expect locked passages, burrow gaps under shelves, and enemies that punish rushing back to Ossex for shopping mid-room.

  • Clear adjacent Stellarium / Mutant Lab sections first so archive doors and color gates unlock in sequence.
  • Stock Plasma Vials and a ranged sidearm before long archive backtracking — mirror warps reset surface enemies but not your vial count.
  • If a path looks sealed, check for Drill Driver breakable walls or burrow tiles on the floor — archive shortcuts often hide behind both.
  • Rest at the nearest Underlab before diving deep; the save icon after a mirror return confirms you will not lose archive progress on quit.

Bridge Weaver trinket (Mutant Lab chest)

Bridge Weaver summons a web spider to cross ledge gaps. Our trinket database lists it at 3000 Bones from Panino’s shop, but the field copy is also in a Mutant Lab chest.

Community route: in the large room with a massive moving platform and a boomerang enemy, burrow southwest instead of pushing the cube north. Follow the jumping puzzle to the chest. If you miss it, check Panino’s stock in Ossex Station Underside later.

Dr. Naught brain quest — Reckless Beastium (Mirror's End)

Dr. Naught is a headless scientist NPC in Mirror's End. His quest rewards Reckless Beastium — higher damage after healing at the cost of taking more damage. You need the Drill Driver sidearm to break the northwest wall beside him and reveal the brain path.

Route summary (Yahoo / community guides): from the Mirror's End entry room, find Dr. Naught in the east wing. Attack the breakable wall northwest of him, follow the revealed path to the brain, throw it onto moving platforms, race across, pick it up, and return it to Dr. Naught before talking to him for the trinket.

  • Drill Driver is mandatory — buy or unlock it before making a dedicated Mirror's End trip.
  • Practice the moving-platform throw once without the brain so you know the timing.

Mirror's End — extra trinket bag & portal keys

Beyond Dr. Naught, Mirror's End holds portal-key locked rewards:

  • Extra trinket bag — requires spare Kears plus yellow (Septemburg Crow Town farmhouse) and green (post–Moon boss in Nox's Bayou) portal keys; hop platforms west of the yellow portal and unlock with a Kear.
  • Stock up on Kears before marathon mirror backtracking.

Bertram & Joule Syringe (Bone Beach — not inside the Orrery)

Searches often pair “Bertram” with “Mutant Lab” because both are mid-to-late progression targets. Bertram himself is an NPC skeleton on Secret Shoals at Bone Beach, southeast of Ossex.

Joule Syringe (sidearms grant Plasma; at 0 Joules you spend health to fire) is dug from the sparkling spot behind Bertram. Route from community guides: use the Underlab beside the Mining Camp entrance, follow the bottom path through the southern archway, hop barrels across the passage, and dig on the island. Starry Spark Generator & Orrery Warden

The Astral Orrery hosts the final Spark Generator encounter (community videos label it Starry Spark Generator). Orrery Warden is the late boss tied to this region on our boss list — full phase notes are still WIP.

Before the attempt: rest at the nearest Underlab, swap to your boss loadout, and confirm save icon after any mirror warp back from shopping in Ossex.

  • Adjust trinkets for multi-phase mirror fights — survival picks matter more than farming Bones here.
